Caring for new sod

First week (0-5 days)

Water twice a day for about 40 minutes in each area of the lawn. After watering sod for 40 minutes pull back the corner of the sod in several places throughout the lawn to make sure the ground underneath is wet. If not wet, continue watering in 15 minutes intervals until the ground underneath is wet. After 5 days, if sod is very wet cut watering back to 30 minutes once a day.

Second week (10-21 days)

Water every other day for about 30 minutes Again pull back the sod to make sure the soil beneath is getting enough water. The sod should be starting to root at this time. The sod should be difficult to pull up, but do not force it. If it is not, you might not be watering enough. Before watering cut the grass as needed.
